We ARE the Team for YOUR Future

Our team consist of members from every APWU Craft in the Indianapolis Local. We have over TWO-HUNDRED-EIGHTY (280) years of combined experience in the Postal Service and the Union. We are from very diverse backgrounds in gender, race, craft representation, age and experience. It is our desire to do what is best for the union and this local that brought us all together as a team. Some of the members of the team, including President Greg Jones are Veteran’s of the U.S. Military and have been and continue to be advocates for Veteran Right’s both inside and outside of the U.S.P.S and the APWU.

Almost all of the team members have served this union as a union steward and many as Craft Directors of their various crafts. Some of the candidates are currently serving as State Officers in the Indiana Postal Workers Union, and have been active in both the State and Local unions protecting union members throughout the state. In our APWU contract there are fourty-three (43) separate articles, only five (5) of them are craft articles, and Indianapolis has only three (3) of them. With the exception of craft article the other thirty-eight (38) are common to all crafts, so the representation of the membership is basically the same. While some of the team has not filed grievances, there have been numerous times over the past several years that current stewards have sought the advice of those same people on our team for information and remedies on grievance filings, because of the vast knowledge we have accumulated. Remember, stewards are appointed by the sitting president, not elected by the membership. Not a single member of our team has been charged by the National Labor Relations Board for failure to provide representation to the membership.

Training is not only important, but vital to the struggles of the union. Merely being trained, however, isn't enough, it has to be shared and used to represent the membership. Our team has extensive training and has used it well to represent the membership. We have a proven track record, as many of you already know. While other teams speak of the number of grievances they have filed, our team thinks the impact the grievance settlements have on the membership is the most important, and of more benefit to the membership. Our team not only supports use of the APWU Electronic Grievance System, it was members of our team that were selected to prepare it for use. The system has been succesfully readied for it to be implemented, and can now be activated. This system will not only allow faster and more efficient handling of the grievance process, but will also allow grievances to be tracked more efficiently than in the past and keep them on track and assure their timeliness.

In addition, we also have an excellent knowledge of the contract, and how it applies to the memberships' rights. While the system is sometimes a slow process, the win ratio on grievances is very good and of benefit to the membership. Our team has been trained from basic stewards, to advanced stewards, union leadership and grievance arbitrations.

Other issues, not of a contractual nature, have their own special needs and our team has training in application and/or representation in many other areas. Some of these area include FMLA, OWCP, Veteran's Affairs, Retirement. etc.

Please join us and help us, while we help YOU the membership. Vote for YOUR FUTURE, vote for the members of the Team4TheFuture.
